Simple beliefs

God is for God.

  • Scripture teaches us that we have been made by God for God. Our purpose is found in belonging to Him and living for Him. He is the only One who deserves worship, so we live our lives for His fame. Our sin has separated us from God and robbed God of the worship He deserves.

We are broken.

  • We've all messed up. It's our own brokenness that helps lead us to the conclusion that we need a Savior. The church is not a place where people try to prove their worth by making better decisions. We are convinced that we are broken. We need help. We need each other. We need God.
God is for you.

  • The wonder of the gospel starts with this simple truth - God, who is perfect, loves us, who are far from perfect. We are all spiritually broken, but He has not left us to be spiritual orphans. Our Father in heaven loves us and yearns to bring us close to Him again. His thoughts toward us are good.

Jesus Christ is God.

  • God's love for us is clearly seen in Jesus. His perfect life, sacrificial death, and resurrection from the dead has made a way for us to reconnect with the Father. Jesus Christ claimed to be God and we believe Him. As we put our faith in Jesus and what He did for us, we have eternal life.

We focus on four things

Real, relatable, inspiring – these are some of the words we hear from our guests as they explain their first City Chapel experience. We hope you’ll agree.

With a simple focus on worship and the Bible, you’ll have the chance to experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.

What you can expect.

City Groups

We believe that real life change happens best in the context of real relationships. Our “free-market” small groups meet once a week in places all around our city and provide a place for you to connect, grow, and discuss the issues and challenges of life. Small groups are also where we pray and care for one another!

City Serve Team

Very few people get the opportunity in their lifetime to be part of the success, growth, and life-change we see happening every day in people’s lives. That’s what the City Serve Team does every week – and we invite you to join Jesus as He renews our city!

The 5 things

1.    We rinse our own cottage cheese (vs being lazy)
We will be described as fanatical, disciplined, rigorous, dogged, determined, diligent, precise, fastidious, systematic, methodical, workmanlike, demanding, consistent, focused, accountable, persistent, and responsible.  We do whatever it takes to do exactly what we said we would do, how we said we would do it, when we said we would do it.

2.    We smell like sheep (vs being judgmental)
We invest time, energy, and money in people because we believe that people are worth it.  We know the state of our flocks and are always working to move them to green pasture.  We celebrate each step.  We are neither judgmental nor apathetic.  We constantly communicate grace and truth.

3.    We walk with Jesus (vs being hypocritical)
We live with honesty and transparency.  We are self-feeders who are currently being transformed by our own relationship with Jesus.  We actively dethrone everything in our lives but Christ so that we can have the authority to challenge others to the same.  We repent often.  We love the truth.

4.    We are teachable (vs being opinionated)
We are always learning.  We allow others to speak into our lives.  We are quick to submit to authority and even to each other.  We are unoffendable.  We seek out opportunities to become more productive leaders.  We ask the right questions; seeking personally applicable answers not “buy in” or to satisfy curiosity. We look in the mirror when giving critique (humility) and out the window when giving credit (encouragement).

5.    We possess enduring joy (vs being moody)
We have fun.  We smile a lot.  We intentionally set the positive tone of our church by communicating the joy of the Lord.  We find the life giving way to see and say everything.  Because of this, healthy people are drawn to us.  Blessings come out of our mouths, not curses.  We never despair.  We never count God out.
