FUNDAMENTALS OF THE FAITH

SAVED BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH – LESSON 2

  1. What is sin? (1 John 3:4, James 4:17)

  2. What is the result of sin? (Romans 6:23, John 8:34, Romans 5:12) (The word ‘death’ means: spiritually dead. One who is dead spiritually has no communication with God; he is separated from God.)

  3. Is there anyone who has not sinned? (Romans 3:23)

  4. What of good moral people, aren’t they an exception? (Romans 3:10)

  5. What of people who always seem to do good? (Isaiah 53:6, 64:6)

  6. Who alone knows the truth about the human heart? (Jeremiah 17:9-10)

  7. If we say we have no sin, what are we doing to ourselves? (1 John 1:8)

  8. What did Jesus tell Nicodemus (the religious leader of the Jews, and no doubt a very good, moral religious man) he must do to enter Heaven? (John 3:1-8) Born-Again means receiving new life, born-again of the Holy Spirit into the family of God. Born-Again describes the action God’s Spirit takes when He transforms human lives.

  9. How can a person be born again? (John 3:5, John 3:14-16) ‘Born of water’ may reference one’s natural birth (the water of the womb), thus implying the need for a first birth (natural) and a second birth (spiritual) after that. Also, water is often a symbol for the Word of God. (Ephesians 5:25-26)

  10. If we all start off as sinners, how do we know God really loves us? (Romans 5:8)

  11. For what purpose did Christ come into the world (1 Timothy 1:15, Matthew 1:21)

  12. For what purpose did Christ die on the cross? (1 Peter 2:24)

  13. What must I do to be saved from sin? (John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10)

  14. If we confess and repent of our sins, what will Jesus do for us? (1 John 1:9)

  15. According to John 1:12, what happens to the person who receive and believes on Jesus Christ?

  16. When should we seek salvation? (2 Corinthians 6:1-2)

  17. Why can’t I get to Heaven by good works? (Ephesians 2:8-9) Grace is a gift from God that enables us to do His will.

  18. Can you know you have eternal life? (1 John 5:13)

  19. Are you a son of God now, or when you die and go to Heaven? (1 John 3:2)

  20. How can I know I am saved from sin? (1 John 1:9, Romans 8:16, 1 John 3:6-9)

  21. What happens if a Christian sins? (1 John 2:1-2) An ‘advocate’ is someone who stands up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. An ‘advocate’ petitions others to support those He is advocating for.

  22. What happens if a Christian continues in sin? (Hebrews 10:26-27, 2 Peter 2:20-21)

  23. What happens when we are born-again and become Christians (2 Corinthians 5:17)

  24. Who can have this born-again experience? (Romans 10:13)

  25. What is a Christian? (John 1:12-13, 1 John 2:6) A Christian is one who is born of God. Not of blood-heredity or good birth. Not of the will of the flesh – culture and education. Not of the will of man- prestige or influences. But of God – by the power of the Holy Spirit.

  26. What do you now possess as a Christian? (2 Corinthians 6:18)

  27. How should a Christian think? (Philippians 4:8)

  28. What is the inward evidence that I am a born-again Christian? (1 John 3:14, 1 John 4:7-8, 13)

  29. What assurance do I have that I can live and enjoy the Christian life? (Philippians 4:13)

  30. How can you know that you know God? (1 John 2:3-5)

  31. What will be the reward for following Jesus in this world and in the world to come? (Mark 10:28-30, Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 26-28, 3:5, 12, 21)
